We are terribly concerned about America’s dependence on foreign oil!!
Are you aware that 97% of the fuel used in US Transportation is PETROLEUM-BASED, and that WE IMPORT TWO-THRIDS of ALL OUR OIL?? Our Oil Imports cost us around $800 BILLION each year, most of which goes to countries THAT HATE US! This is MORE than our DEFENSE BUDGET! We are slowly being BANKRUPTED by our FOREIGN OIL DEPENDENCE!!
There are SO many alternatives that Americans could depend on, and MOST if not ALL of them can be produced BY Americans, IN America, using resources that we ALREADY HAVE!
For THE MOST comprehensive discussion on this matter, I would strongly urge EVERYONE to watch and listen to Anne Korin’s ( Institute for the Analysis of Global Security ) taped presentation, recorded on August 4, 2008. She may be the most eloquent speaker on this subject out there today, not to mention one of the most intelligent women I have ever heard! Her video’s are available HERE! “The crisis is that oil is a strategic commodity and holders of the worlds oil reserves are not our friends. We are not dealing with a free market: We are dealing with a cartel – OPEC, which owns 75% of the world’s oil.
Thirty-five years ago OPEC produced 30 million barrels of oil a day. The global economy has since doubled, and non-OPEC production has also doubled. But today, OPEC produces only 32 million barrels of oil a day. We have approximately an 85 million barrels a day global oil market. This is why oil prices are high.
Dealing with a geological question – DOES OPEC have tie oil reserves they say they do? There is no way to know because there is no transparency and the numbers aren”t available. Two possibilities: OPEC does not have the oil reserves it claims or has reserves, but chooses not to produce them. Neither option is good for America or any other consuming countries around the world,. We must focus on stripping oil of its strategic value.” Beverly Hills Magazine, September 5, 2008
Did you know, that most automobile manufacturer’s HAVE the technology to make ALL new cars Flex Fuel vehicles, AND at a cost of around $100! They are ALREADY doing this in automobiles that they sell to Brazil, where Flex Fuel options ARE MANDATORY! And guess what? Brazil is NOT dependent on ANY other country for it’s fuel needs!
There are two types of vehicles that can be produce to begin the process of declaring our independence on Foreign oil: FLEX FUEL VEHICLES ( FFV ) and PLUG-IN HYBRIDS ( PHEV ).
