puffed out his bony little chest and tried to raise a mob of US
Senators to contravene the US Constitution.
“Harry Reid’s office put out this statement from the Senate
Democratic leadership, saying that Burris “will not be seated by the
Democratic Caucus.”
“This is not about Mr. Burris,” the statement says, “It is about
the integrity of a governor accused of attempting to sell this United
States Senate seat.”
I suspect that some students of a 7th Grade Civics class stopped
by the Senate and pointed out to the Senators that Governor
Blagojevich has not been indicted, has not been tried, and is
innocent until PROVEN guilty. Whether Harry likes it or not he is not
allowed to step outside the Constitution of The United States at his
whim.
We live in a country that is ruled by law, not the puffed out
chest of some petty tyrant. Burris will be seated as a US Senator
from Illinois. Governor Blagojevich has the right, duty and,
authority to appoint him. Burris need make no deals with the Democrat
caucus. The seat is his by right of law.
