I have never been an ardent backer of Israel, not out of concern for their plight, more out of ignorance of enough of the facts to render an educated opinion on the matter… but GOD DAMN! Enough is enough!
Someone keeps lobbing rockets at MY civilian population, killing and harming MY people, and I would expect.. no… I would DEMAND some military retaliation! Is it that hard to understand?
U.N. Secretary-general Ban Ki-moon on Saturday…..While recognizing Israel’s security concerns regarding the continued firing of rockets from Gaza [No, he doesn't -- RS], the UN chief firmly reiterated Israel’s obligation to uphold international humanitarian and human rights law, and condemned excessive use of force leading to the killing and injuring of civilians.
He condemns the ongoing rocket attacks by Palestinian militants and is deeply distressed that repeated calls on Hamas for these attacks to end have gone unheeded…..
The secretary-general reiterates his previous calls for humanitarian supplies to be allowed into Gaza to aid the distressed civilian population
From what I have read ( and you ain’t gonna find any of it in OUR liberal media )…. most ‘humanitarian’ supplies that DO get into Gaza are ‘appropriated’ by HAMAS, and the people never see them….
NOW, the Saudi’s weigh in on the issue with this from AFP
Saudi King Abdullah told US President George W. Bush by telephone on Saturday that major countries must take action to halt Israel’s attacks on Gaza,…….King Abdullah had discussed “the Israeli aggression against Gaza” and the “implications of continuing Israel’s policies of blockade, occupation and torture against the Palestinian people all over the Occupied Territories.”
At SOME point, military response HAS to be of such force that the assailant has to think twice about continuing his assault! I’m somewhat surprised it took Israel this long to respond!
Update: Hamas ‘bars injured (from) leaving Gaza’! WTF??? Where is the plea about ‘HUMANITARIAN’ here?
Egypt has helicopters and doctors on standby at the Rafah crossing.
There are also up to 40 ambulances waiting to go into Gaza to bring out the most seriously wounded. Tonnes of medical supplies have arrived at the nearby airport of El-Arish.
But the Egyptian authorities say that, at the moment, they have no-one to treat.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the wounded were “barred from crossing” and he blamed “those in control of Gaza” for putting the lives of the injured at risk.
Must not play well in the liberal media if you actually TREAT your wounded, instead of flaunting them to the press, huh?
